Hot Stuff Files on Catch You

Source: hotstufffiles.com

If you have just woken up from a coma, or induced accident - don't worry, because instead of actually suffering through the quite mediocre Jessica Simpson below, you can watch the amazing Sophie Ellis Bextor in her new video for her new song.

Called 'Catch You' as obviously everyone bar Chartshow TV knows, she has seemingly taken a few fashion tips from the quite lovely Sugababes, as she is wearing a red dress.

But don't stop there. Instead watch the video where you can see poses that look almost pornographic and a lovely Sophie Ellis Bextor trying to find someone through the use of a gondola. Can we suggest binoculars might be useful for the next time, Sophie?

She's bringing Bexy back

Here's the new Sophie video. There's a lot of running around and some legs are akimbo.

We really like the bit where she purposefully reads a newspaper. There is too much casual newspaper reading in pop these days. Did you see those photographs of Lisa Scott-Lee nonchalantly skimming through the Daily Mail? No wonder the country's gone to the dogs.

In other news the album tracks from 'Trip The Light Fantastic' are slowly leaking onto the web - 'Me & My Imagination' (which we mentioned as a reason to be cheerful about the future of pop about a year and a half ago) and 'New York City Lights' are the latest to appear online, and very good they are too.

Catch You at Bop Bop Website

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - 'Catch You'
This is at the top, obviously, and for good reason. It is (a) amazing, (b) fantastic, (c) brilliant and (d) really, really ****ing good. Whenever you get round to legally obtaining it, do not fear the first three minutes of it souding like 'Trouble' by the abominable Pink. It soon develops into the heady lovechild of Rachel Stevens' 'Waiting Game'.

We can confidently predict that it will be the only song of the next 12 months to reference chequebooks. God, Sophie's so vintage.

It'll, of course, be bettered this year, but it's the best song so far. Plus, she looks a bit like Kylie in that picture.

Chart of 2007, in descending order:
    1. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Catch You
    2. Mika - Grace Kelly
    3. Just Jack - Starz In Their Eyes

Bextor's eBay addiction

British singer, SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR, is worried about spending far too much time on internet auction website eBay bidding for items she doesn't need. The MURDER ON THE DANCEFLOOR star admits she is addicted to buying items online. She says, "there was a time when I was bidding so much that parcels were arriving every day and I had to take a break. I can't help myself. I always feel I'm one click away from the perfect new dress.
I'll search for anythings that comes into my head. I've bought some unusual stuff like a pinball machine."

Richard on Christmas and working professionally with Sophie

On this week Catch-up, Richard talked about their Christmas: "Oh, it was great. It was good to spend time with Sonny and Sophie and see all my family. (...) It was Sonny's first experience of putting out the mince pie and whisky for Father Christmas and hanging up his stocking. The only thing he asked for was a pterodactyl. I said, 'What, a real one?' and he just looked at me and said, 'No, a toy one' [personal comment: owww, cute!]. His face when he opened it was amazing."

Richard was also asked if he will ever work professionally with his missus, Sophie Ellis-Bextor: "Well, Paul and myself were in her band and left because we've obviously got our own thing going on now. That was when I met her. We did that for over two years. We both played on her albums before and I'm playing on the new one, as is Dan who's singing with her and wrote two songs with her on it."

Trip The Light Fantastic details

More details on this year's most anticipated album!

We can reveal that Sophie has worked with a selection of the UK's finest pop producers on Trip The Light Fantastic due this spring.

Sophie worked with Cathy Dennis, Hannah Robinson, Greg Kurstin, Dan Gillespie of The Feeling and B52's frontman, Fred Schneider.

Sophie says: It's taken the best part of two years to do but I enjoyed letting it take its time. It was lovely to have no pressure to get it finished.

In a lot of ways it definitely picks up where the last two albums left off. It's a slightly more modern sound but there are definitely songs on there that I feel that could have been on the other albums.

It's an album to dance to - that's why it's called Trip The Light Fantastic - so I had to have an element of disco and pop in the artwork. It's sparkly, but hopefully it's got a bit more depth than just a nice picture of me on the cover!

Trip The Light Fantastic is the first studio album to be launched by the brand new Polydor imprint, Fascination.

Polydor notes on 5-track sampler

She's back....with her iconic looks, knowing wink and an intellect to surpass many of today's pop pretenders, Sophie Ellis-Bextor returns with her brilliant new single Catch You on February 19th. Penned by Cathy Dennis, 'Catch You' combines guitars, zingy keyboards and a hook that burrows into your brain and stays there long after the end of the three minute spin - it's destined to cause murder on the dance floor! Sophie has spent the past couple of years out of the limelight having a baby, Sonny, getting married to Richard Jones from The Feeling and working on her new album, Trip The Light Fantastic, which she describes as "an invitation to dance". Sophie has worked with some of pop's finest names on the album - from Cathy Dennis, Fred Schnieder from The B52's, Dan Gillespie Sells from The Feeling and Xenomania. "Trip The Light Fantastic" will be Sophie's third solo album. "Shoot From The Hip" released in 2003 included two top ten singles and her debut album "Read My Lips" sold 1 million copies in the UK alone as well as spawning global hits "Take Me Home" and "Murder On The Dancefloor". Expect a lot more of Sophie in the forthcoming months with a host of prime time TV performances and some great press coverage, including features in Observer Music Monthly, Saturday Times Magazine, Grazia and Marie Claire.

New Woman magazine's Pupbitch column

Return of the style icon

It's très fabulous to welcome Sophie Ellis-Bextor back into the public eye - that gal knows how to rock a good look. She glided past NW towers in a bright red coat, 60s-style shift dress and pointy shoes. Even cuter was seeing her and hubby, The Feeling's Richard Jones, gazing so adoringly at each other they didn't notice two builders gawping, "Isn't she that Sophie bird?"

Justin (forum member) on 5-track sampler

The tracks sent to UK radios were:
  • Catch You
  • Me And My Imagination
  • New York City Lights
  • If You Go
  • Today The Sun's On Us
Justin says: "I am by no means a music reviewer or critic. Anyhow, for what it's worth, as a fan, it appears much more polished and focused than Shoot From The Hip. It has a strong dance feel to it. New York City Lights is an obvious single - it sounds like a modern day Madonna song"

Single and video news

Sophie is very excited to announce that she will be releasing her brand new single Catch You on 19th February.

It's the first track to be released from the forthcoming Trip The Light Fantastic album.

Sophie says: "The track is co-written by Cathy Dennis (famed for Toxic and Can't Get You Out Of Head) and is one of those slightly creepy songs like One Way Or Another, the Blondie song, where it's a kind of frantic, slightly stalkerish love song!"

The Catch You video will get its first airing on 13th January on Channel 4's Popworld. Think 'Like a Virgin' meets 'Don't Look Now'.

Sophie's really excited about the video, saying: "The video was shot in Venice. I was quite lucky with that because usually I get to go somewhere like Park Royal.

It was quite knackering, 4.30am starts to do hair and make up for filming. It was after a good three-day of filming that I finally had some good pasta and wine.
