Who are her parents? Janet Ellis and Robin Bextor.
Is her mother the famous... former Blue Peter TV presenter. In almost all Sophie's interviews, they
mention the fact that her mother is the former presenter of the TV show.
And her father? He's an award-winning film director, who also directed all of theaudience's
four videos.
Are her parents still married? Nope. They divorced when Sophie was only four years old.
Does she have any siblings? Sure. She's got five siblings from both of her parents mariage:
Jack and Martha from her mother's side and Duke and the twins Maisy and Bertie from her father's side.
Her brother plays on her band, right? Yes, that's Jack. He plays drums for her.
And is she married? Yes. She's married to Richard Jones.
Isn't he... The bassist for The Feeling, yeah =D
Does she have any children? She does, indeed. She has only one, Sonny, who was born on
April 23rd, 2004. But she wants more children.
EDUCATION
Where did she study? Sophie studied at St. Stephen's School and when she was eleven, she moved to the Godolphin and Latymer
private school for girls.
What about the 'Against Sophie Club'? That was when she was a child and her mother was still the presenter of Blue Peter. She then moved to
another school where she made a lot of friends, who are still her friends now.
Did she succeed in her A-levels? She did, she got one A and two Bs!
What happened next? She was going to study English and Drama at Queen Mary Westfield university, but quit because of her first
band theaudience.
BODY AND FACE
Eye colour? Hazel.
And natural hair colour? Sophie's had many different hair colours, but her natural hair colour is brown - see the picture below.
Her weight? Well, it's unknown, though it's clear that she's lost a lot of weight since she had Sonny.
Have she ever considered cosmetic surgery? She has indeed. But that was when she was younger. She used to hate her jaw and she used to think
about cosmetic surgery. However, now she likes it because it's not like anybody else's.
Is that because people used to make fun of it? Exactly. Loads of famous people have made fun of her
because of her face. While announcing the nominees to Brits 2002 alongside Sophie, Frank Skinner said: "Why the wide face?"... ouch! But Sophie's
Sophie and she replied: "There are many rude things I could say about you, but I won't, 'cos I'm a lady! And the nominees are..."
She has a tattoo. What's written on it? She has a red heart on her right arm and it's written
'family' on it, because that's something she believes in. She got it when she got married in 2005, so it'd go with her wedding dress.
Does she have any plan of getting another one? Well, she's said "maybe". So only time will tell.
BEFORE FAME
What did she do before becoming a singer? She worked in a hairdresser's, washing people's hair
(her first job) and the she also modelled for six months after theaudience's split.
THEAUDIENCE
the... what? theaudience! Yeap, all together in small letters. It was her first
band and it was when she realised that music was what she wanted to do for living.
So, what happened to them? They split in 1999 after Billy Reeves, founder member and also considered the brain of the group, left.
And is it true that she got close to anorexia because of the band split? Unfortunately, yes. She said: I felt like my life wasn't going to
plan, so I focused on being disciplined with meals. It was a desire to control something, rather than a desire to be slim. I didn't feel I could control
anything else that was going on at the time.
Poor Sophie... but is she better now? Fortunately yes, she also said: (But) thankfully, I haven't got the willpower to have an eating
disorder.
IF SHE WEREN'T FAMOUS...
She'd be a model, right? Hum, I don't think so, she was a model when theaudience split, but that was all.
Oh... a WRITER! She'd be a writer, she started writing a novel before!! Well, that's true. When theaudience split, she tried writing a
novel, but gave it up after three or four chapters because they were rubbish! So nope, I don't think so... =/
So, what would she be if she wasn't a singer? She'd be a food critical as she loves eating and cooking!
Really? Yeah! She's always loved cooking and food. When she was a teenager, she used to come home to cook her own launch \o/
PREGNANCY, ENGAGEMENT & WEDDING
How did Sophie and Richard meet? They met while he was playing bass for her Read My Lips tour. By the time they met, both were
dating.
Then, how did they get together? He was the one she used to tell everything to, so when Sophie broke up with her ex-boyfriend, in August 2003,
they started dating a week later.
And then came the pregnancy? Yes. A month later, Sophie found out she was pregnant. It was a happy surprise, though, as the baby was
planned.
Any strange food cravings during the pregnancy? No, but she got a craving for smashed glass!
How did Richard propose? He fooled Sophie by saying he wasn't into getting married. But he had everything planned. They went for a weekend in
Barcelona in November 2004 and had a few drink at a quiet bar on the beach and he literally got down on one knee.
When and where the ceremony happened? Sophie and Richard got married on June 25th, 2005 in Italy.
What took they so long? Well, that's because they wanted Sonny to be old enough to enjoy with them =D
And how was the ceremony? It was a civil ceremony and it was very simple with all close friends and
family invited. However, the ceremony was in Italian and no one could understand what the minister was saying.
And her dress? Well, the only picture we have from the wedding is that black and white one. But
Sophie once said that her dress was similar to the one she wore on Take Me Home video. It was designed by Sarah Owen.
Anything else about it? Yeah, Sophie sang Richard's favourite song, God Only Knows with his band The Feeling as a
surprise to him. She also sang Let's Go Fly A Kite as she loved Mary Poppins when she was a kid.
So, is she Sophie Ellis-Bextor or Sophie Jones now? Well, she's obviously kept Ellis-Bextor as her stage name, but she's taken the
Jones moniker in the banking sense.

Drinks? Champagne, white wine and beer!
Football team? Norwich City.
City? Definitely, London. But she often mentions Paris and any city in Italy.
Favourite films? Mary Poppins, for sure, and Grease.
Hobbies? Shopping (of course), cooking, reading and playing with her Gameboy.
Doesn't she collect stamps? She used to when she was a child and she thinks it's a shame that children prefer Playstations to having a nice
stamp collection.

Does she have any pets? She used to have some fishes and a guinea pig and now she's two cats named

line on the test kit wasn't very clear, so she did again (and again... and again...)

What are her influences? Sophie has always mentioned as her influences musicians like David Bowie, Prince, Blondie, Madonna, old Michael Jackson
and many other artists, who make pop for adults.
And lyrical heros? Elvis Costello - she said he reinstated the value of a good lyric; and Squeeze - because they're brilliant
lyricists.
What has she been listening to recently? Blondie, Elvis Costello, Bjork, PJ Harvey, Blue, Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, Mika, Lily
Allen, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Arcade Fire, Gwen Stefani and The Feeling, of course.
Talking about The Feeling, which is her favourite track from them? She loves all of their songs, but definitely it's Fill My Little World
'cos she said it brings a lot of happy memories to her.
What was the first gig she ever saw? Pink Floyd - against her will. Her father took her, when she was about eight. Worse: her second gig was
also Pink Floyd! But she said she had a good time. The first gig she went on her own accord was Madonna, The Girlie's Show.
