The former SophieBR opened its door on March 23rd, 2003, when I decided it was time to make a decent fansite dedicated to Ms. Sophie
Ellis-Bextor. By that time, I didn't know anything about HTML code or anything related to webpage building. I also didn't know
where to host it - the only place I found, which was for free, was geocities and I used to have many accounts as they don't provide much
space and the site was growing - I think I had about 10 accounts just for the pictures!
About over a year later, I decided to launch
an English version, which wasn't too difficult as I had been learning English for 2 years by that time. It was also when I realised I had
to learn HTML - I used to work with PageBuilder - and try to use Photoshop. My site, until then, didn't have any graphics at all, so
it was very, very simple.
Then, I launched the English version and started improving my HTML and Photoshop skills. Luckily, during one of my
affiliation request to the former Hilary Who, I met Ashley who offered me the chance of being host by her in September 2004. She
hosted my site for four months, when I moved to the former Miss Watson. There I had unlimited space, which was perfect to me. After
some problems with Miss Watson domain, I got all my files deleted - not only was my site deleted, but also other fansites that were hosted there
as well and the Miss Watson site itself. Lizzy (webmiss of Miss Watson) hosted me for seven months and I really appreciated my time
in both places (though I was desperate when my site was deleted).
So, basically, I had to start it all again and, most important, I
needed to found another host if I wanted to keep on with the site. And I did find one, the best host on the web -
The Fansites Network. Therefore, I only have to thank gertie for hosting Sophie Online
for over two years now and for also giving the site its domain, Sophie-Online.net.
I'm really proud that what started
as a mini fansite has grown in such way to become the largest fansite dedicated to Sophie and home to thousands of HQ
pictures, loads of videos, hundreds of articles and many other things such as icons, wallpapers, audio files and most
important lots of information!
And I really must thank you, visitor, for keep visiting it, because without you, none of
this would be possible and this site wouldn't have been online for 5 years!! Also, thank you very much, gertie, for keeping this site online
and for all your efforts concerning you hostees! It's pretty much appreciated!

WHO AM I?
Now that I've talked enough about the site, you probably want to know who's behind it. Well, I'm Isabela and I live in Brazil. Here,
there are no Soph fansites and she's little known as well. I love many things in this life; apart from my family and my life itself, I
love music - can't really live without it and I'm always listening to music, all the time. I also love watching films - can be a comedy, a romantic
comedy... except horror - and watching volleyball matches - though I can't really play it.
I like simple things such as speding a day with my
family, going out and chatting with my friends or even beholding the nature or a beautiful thing/place - which is always good to my mind. Reading can
be a passtime as well, but recently, I've been only reading Biology-related books for the University. I also love surfing the internet - it's amazing the
quantity of information and unsual stuff you can find here!
What do I like listening to? Well, I'm very eclectic, I can listen to pretty
much everything from punk rock to pop, and my favs bands and musicians are people like Beatles, Ramones, Elvis, Bee Gees, Roxette, Mika, The Feeling,
Charlotte Martin, Chantal Kreviazuk, The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, The Smiths, James Morrison, Lily Allen, Bon Jovi and almost any singer from the
80's (and I don't need to mention Sophie, do I?).
THEN... WHY SOPH?
Well, some of you might wonder why I chose Sophie as the subject of this site. I first saw her on a TV show called Hebe here in Brazil. She
came here to promote her debut album, Read My Lips, and performed Murder On The Dancefloor in August 2002. By that time, I had no idea who Sophie
Ellis-Bextor was so I *unfortunately* paid no attention to the show.
Some months later, I saw her video for Get Over You, which I
absolutely loved and I also saw her at the Peta's anti-fur campaign, which I totally support. Then, I tried searching for Sophie on the web: found
nothing but few sites that weren't updated anymore and had little information about her.
I listened to a preview of all Read My Lips songs
and bought the album. When it arrived home, I listened to it three times in a row! Since then, Sophie's always been on my CD player. Also, in the
end of that year [2003], she released her second solo album, Shoot From The Hip. It was due to the lack of fansites on the web that I decided
to make one to help the new fans and also Brazilian fans to get to know her better.
Obsviously, I wouldn't have kept this site for so long if wasn't
for the fact that Sophie is really a special musician. She's got it all: talented, beautiful, smart, nice, funny, adorable, lovely, sensible, down-to-Earth,
sweet, hard-working and devoted to music - she absolutely loves what she does! Not to mention the key fact: she's really, really posh
(she's the Real Posh, isn't she?) - ha ha!
